Entertainment and Sports Business Talent Upskilling

The Global Entertainment Talent Upskilling Program (GETuP) is a groundbreaking immersive hands-on training program dedicated to empowering and nurturing the next generation of talent in the film and television industries across the African continent, the African diaspora, and the Caribbean. 

This dynamic program combines hands-on training, masterclasses, virtual classes, and a unique storytelling incubator to create a comprehensive platform for creative development and industry excellence. GETuP aims to elevate skills, foster networking, and amplify authentic narratives from Africa and the Caribbean, ensuring that diverse voices are represented on the global stage.

KEY OBJECTIVES

1. Skill Development: Equip participants with cutting-edge skills in various aspects of film and television production,      both in front of and behind the camera.
2. Cultural Storytelling: Promote and develop authentic stories from Africa and the Caribbean through dedicated support and incubation.
3. Industry Integration: Bridge the gap between emerging talent and industry opportunities, fostering professional growth and creative collaboration.
4. Global Representation: Ensure the rich diversity of African and Caribbean narratives is showcased in the global entertainment industry. 
5. Employment: Facilitate pathways for participants to secure meaningful employment in the film and television sectors.     
6. Output:   Create a platform for collaboration, where participants can develop projects that appeal to both local and international audiences.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

1. Immersive multi-location In-Person workshops

• Locations: Key cities across Africa, the Caribbean, and significant diaspora hubs like New York, London, and Toronto.
• Duration: 7-14 days of immersive, hands-on training in various disciplines.
• Content: Includes practical workshops in acting, cinematography, directing, producing, lighting, sound, as well as Music Business, Voice, Sound Engineering, Music Production and more, facilitated by industry veterans.

2. Virtual Ongoing training/Upskilling

• Format: Weekly webinars, virtual masterclasses, and one-on-one mentorship sessions.
• Accessibility: Available to participants globally, providing flexible learning options through live and recorded sessions.
• Topics: Ranges from technical skills like camera operation to creative aspects like scriptwriting and character development.

3. Specialized Tracks

• Film: Acting, Scriptwriting, Production Management, Cinematography, Directing, and Film Economics. 

• Television: Producing, Editing, Storytelling, and TV Show Development. 

• Music: Music Production, Artist Management, Songwriting, and Entertainment Law. 

• Storytelling and Scriptwriting: Developing compelling stories and scripts for film and television.  

• Business of Entertainment Masterclasses

4. FOA – Accelerated Film School Bootcamp

• Intensive Bootcamp: An accelerated program focusing on core film business and filmmaking skills, including pre-production, production, and post-production.
• Practical Experience: Participants create short films, providing a comprehensive overview of the filmmaking process from concept to completion.

5. Institute of Caribbean and African Stories (ICAS)

• Purpose: To incubate, develop, and produce authentic stories from the African continent and the Caribbean.

• Activities: Story development workshops, scriptwriting labs, mentorship from seasoned writers and producers, and support for film and TV projects.

• Output: A pipeline for original content that celebrates and promotes the unique cultural heritage and contemporary experiences of African and Caribbean communities.

Virtual Weekly Classes

Purpose: To create a comprehensive and accessible virtual class series to complement the in-person workshops in entertainment and creative arts training, empowering individuals to achieve success in their chosen fields at their own pace. • 

Activities: Weekly Live Classes:

On-Demand Content; Interactive Workshops; Mentorship Programs; Community Forums; Special Features and Exclusive member content and training  

OUR PILOT PROGRAM: Trinidad and Tobago - Jan 2024:

By investing in this program and choosing to launch our pilot program in the Carribean, the 6th african region, known for its vibrant and diverse cultural heritage. Very similar to that of the African continent. We are investing in the growth and development of local talent in Trinidad, recognizing the importance of nurturing and supporting local talent. We believe that building local talent is crucial for the development of the local arts industry, as it allows us to showcase our unique cultural perspectives and stories on a global stage.
